Taking on A Math in Sec 3 made me realise that I was not going to make it on my own after receiving my results in Term 1. I joined The Ark with a weak foundation and little hope of being able to score well for the subject. However, Teacher Luke spared no effort to rebuild not just that foundation, but also the hope that I needed to keep me motivated throughout the rest of my journey through secondary school.

Teacher Luke’s lessons were filled with the perfect balance of laughter and focus, ensuring that all of us in the group were able to learn at a common pace, leaving no one behind. It was easy to understand and grasp complex topics through Teacher Luke’s ability to simplify and explain a certain concept, which was essential to be able to dive further into more complicated questions. Homework given was usually minimal and manageable, allowing me to balance between subjects and other responsibilities such as my leadership roles in school.

To this day, I am grateful for Teacher Luke’s guidance which has brought me to where I am today. I was posted to my first choice – Accountancy and Finance in Temasek Polytechnic, scoring a nett total of 7 points for L1R4 for the O Level exams. And, I managed an A2 for A Math!
